Foster Care
Foster care is now seen as a professional career choice as well as a vocation.
A lengthy assessment process, annual review for re-approval and the Training, Support & Development standards (now from DfE ) are all evidence of how highly foster carers are now regarded.
Shân Dobinson combines a lifetime of training expertise to the highest professional standards with years of first hand experience as a foster carer for her local authority.
Foster carers do a highly skilled job and need regular training and updates.
We provide a wide range of foster care related training workshops and information for new and experienced foster carers and social workers. These can be adapted for local authorities or independent foster care agencies. You will be able to find most topics related to modern day fostering grouped under four main headings:
- Safeguarding workshops
- Trauma and abuse workshops
- Understanding children and young people workshops
- Transition and change workshops
We also support fostering teams in helping foster carers and social workers learn how to run the Skills to Foster assessment programme for prospective foster carers or we can run the programme on their behalf. And for Continuing Professional Development for foster carers, we offer workshops on Foster Carer Peer Mentoring and Working Effectively with Other Professionals. We also offer a workshop designed to help foster carers and social workers manage their stresss and apply appropriate delegated authority to all they do in their placements. See Outline Programmes:
- Train the Trainer outline programme
- Peer Mentoring outline programme
- Delegated Authority outline programme
- Work Effectively with Other Professionals outline programme
- Permanency outline programme
If you are looking for any kind of practical and relevant foster carer training that’s right for your situation, we can provide it!
